FCC Baseball Hires New Head Baseball Coach

Frontier Community College is proud to announce Brandon Benton as its new Head Baseball Coach.  Coach Benton coached three seasons as the Assistant Coach for the Panola Ponies as the team's lead recruiter, strength coach, and hitting and infielders coach. There he recruited and coached 4-All Americans, 2 MVP's, 2 Freshmen of the Year, 15 All-Conference, and sent over 25 players to Division 1 Universities. Panola finished #14 in NJCAA Division 1 Baseball with a record of 44-13.

Prior to joining the Ponies staff in 2014 Benton served as the Head Coach at Central Hinds Academy in Raymond Mississippi.  In 2012, Benton was on staff at Greenville College as a Graduate Assistant where he led the Strength program and assisted in recruiting.  In 2011, Benton served as an Assistant Coach at St Aloysius High School where he worked primarily with hitters and outfielders.  From 2010-2008, Benton served as an assistant for Mississippi's Reviving Baseball in Inner-cities (RBI).

As a player, he was awarded twice as an All-Conference athlete. As a senior at Mississippi College he was awarded with All-Atlantic-Southwest-Conference honors as an outfielder where he lead the team in home-runs.  Before transferring to Mississippi College, Benton played at Belhaven University where he helped lead the Blazers to the school's first ever NAIA College World Series appearance. Also at Belhaven he was awarded with All-Gulf-Coast-Atlantic-Conference honors as a designated hitter.  Before Belhaven, Benton played for Hinds Community College.    

From 2003-2007 Coach Benton served on active duty in the United States Air Force for 4 years as a Security Forces Airman.  During his time in the service Benton was stationed at Klein Brogel Air Base in Belgium for two years where he played for the Weert Indians (Class-3) and PSV Eindhoven (Class-1) in the Netherlands.  

Coach Benton holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology from Mississippi College and a Masters of Arts in Education from Greenville College.
