Fairfield, IL – The Frontier Community College Bobcats team hosted Illinois Central Community College Cougars Monday at FNB Field.  The Bobcats split with the Cougars dropping game one 4-6 and winning game two 15-14.  With the win, Frontier now moves to 8-7-1 on the season and 0-3 in Region-24 play.  Due to weather the Cats will now play Wednesday at Rend Lake College at 3pm and come back home to the friendly confines of FNB for a double header on Thursday starting at 1pm vs Rend Lake  

 

Late Score Costs Frontier CC Against IL Central

Frontier stayed in it until the end, but IL Central pulled away late in a 6-4 victory on Monday at FNB Field.

Frontier got on the board in the first inning. Trey Woosley (Breckinridge, KY) drove in one when he doubled.

Trayce Abbott (McLoud, OK) got the start for Frontier. He surrendered zero runs on three hits over three innings, striking out six. Gamaliel Rodriguez (Camuy, PR) and Jared Ortiz (Ponce, PR) entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and a third innings and one and two-thirds innings respectively.

Frontier totaled seven hits in the game. Woosley and Kenny Otero (West Palm Beach, FL) all managed multiple hits for Frontier. Woosley led the Bobcats with three hits in three at bats.

 

Otero's Walk off Seals The Deal In Game Two For A Frontier Victory Over IL Central

Frontier defeated IL Central 15-14 on Monday in game two of the double header thanks to a walk-off home run. The game was tied at 14 with Frontier batting in the bottom of the eleventh when Kenny Otero (West Palm Beach, FL) hit a solo homer.

Brendan Mafnas (Riverview, FL) led Frontier to victory by driving in five runs. He went 3-for-5 at the plate. Mafnas drove in runs on a double in the fourth, a triple in the fifth, and a home run in the sixth.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Frontier tied things up at 14 when Matthew Espinosa (Dallas, TX) hit a solo homer.

Frontier put up eight runs in the fifth inning. The rally was led by singles by Bryan Soto (Vega Baja, PR) and Matthew Lawson (Monticello, GA), Espinosa and Adrian Martinez (Toa Alta, PR), and a triple by Mafnas.

Brice Stuteville (Evansville, IN) started the game on the mound for Frontier. He surrendered three runs on two hits over one inning, striking out one and walking one.  Otero would finish the game on the mound to secure the win for the Bobcats.  Otero punched out 7 and only allowed 1 walk in 6 innings of work. 

Frontier socked four home runs on the day. Mafnas had a dinger in the sixth inning. Otero went yard in the eleventh inning. Espinosa went deep in the fourth and sixth innings. IL Central hit two home runs on the day. #35 went yard in the second inning. #20 put one out in the fifth inning.

Frontier had 16 hits in the game. Martinez, Mafnas, Otero, and Espinosa each managed multiple hits for Frontier.
