The Frontier College Baseball team went on the road this past weekend to play a double header against Mississippi Delta CC and Cohoama CC. Frontier would eventually split both series making their season record now 2-2 on the year. The Bobcats will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Southwest Mississippi CC and Copiah Lincoln CC in two back to back double headers on February 16th and 17th. Late Score Costs Frontier Against Mississippi Delta In Game One Of DH
Friday's game against Mississippi Delta was a heartbreaker for Frontier, as they lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat. The game was tied at three with Mississippi Delta batting in the bottom of the sixth when Delta hit a solo homer that would prove to be enough for a victory.
In the first inning, Frontier got their offense started. Braxton Gerek's (Houston, TX) sac fly scored one run for Frontier.
Mississippi Delta knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the second inning. #29 drove in two when he homered.
#26 led things off on the hill for Mississippi Delta. He went four innings, allowing three runs on two hits, striking out seven and walking one.
Brice Stuteville (Rockport, IN) was on the hill for Frontier. He went two and a third innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out five. Alex Kerr, (West Chester, OH) threw three and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen punching out 7 and allowing 1 walk and 1 run.
Jalen Faison, (Brooklyn, NY) and Matthew Espinosa, (Fort Worth, TX) each collected one hit to lead Frontier in game one.
Frontier Walks Away Victorious Over Mississippi Delta, 7-2 In Game Two
Frontier scores more runs than Mississippi Delta, takes victory on Friday to the tune of 7-2 to earn a split.
Frontier put up three runs in the fifth inning. Each
Andrew Shoultz, (Scurry, TX) earned the win for Frontier. He went four innings, allowing zero runs on two hits and striking out eight. Brendan Reid, (Union, KY) threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen punching out 6 batter and allowing 4 walks.
Frontier socked one home run on the day. Starly Hilario, (San Juan, PR) had a dinger in the sixth inning.
Ren Reynolds, (Kilgore, TX) led Frontier with two hits in three at bats. Frontier tore up the base paths, as Frontier stole 10 bases in the game.
Frontier Defeats Cohoama Despite Allowing 6-Run Inning In Game One Of DH
Frontier weathered a scare by Cohoama in the second inning where Frontier coughed up six runs, but Frontier still won 9-6 on Saturday.
There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Frontier collected eight hits and Cohoama had seven.
Cohoama captured the lead in the second inning.
Frontier took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Braxton Gerek, (League City, TX) singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs, Bradley Taylor, (Russelville, KY) singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run, and Ren Reynolds, (Kilgore, TX) doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Ty Ramey, (Princeton, KY) was the winning pitcher for Frontier. He went four innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out four and walking zero. Jestin Jones, (Fort Myers, FL) and Lane McMaster, (Shepard, TX) entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Jones recorded the last three outs to earn the first save of the year for the Bobcats.
Trayce Abbott, (McCloud, OK) started the game for Frontier. He allowed three hits and five runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one
Frontier totaled eight hits. Jalen Faison, (Brooklyn, NY) and Reynolds all managed multiple hits for Frontier. Frontier stole 11 bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Faison led the way with two.
Frontier Loses Lead Early In Defeat, 1-7 In Game Two Vs Cohoama
Frontier watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 7-1 loss to Cohoama on Saturday.
The Frontier struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Cohoama, giving up seven runs.
In the first inning, Cohoama got their offense started when an error scored one run for Cohoama.
Rafael Nolasco, (Vera Cruz, MX) led things off on the mound for Frontier. He allowed four hits and six runs over one inning, striking out one and walking zero. Gamaliel Echevarria, (Camuy, PR) and Caleb Rush (Mount Vernon, IN) entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three innings and two innings respectively.
Frontier hit one home run on the day. Jacob White (Lewisport, KY) went deep in the sixth inning to give Frontier it’s only run in the game.
