Frontier Baseball held its home conference opener against Rend Lake, defeating them nine to six. The game started with a ceremonial first pitch by Jeremy and Nikki Carter from Carter Trucking and Carter Athletic Academy. A stellar pitching performance was done by Andrew Shoultz going 1-2-3 in the first inning, finishing with seven inning pitched, and striking out three. The Bobcats offense continue hitting the baseball hard collecting a total of fifteen hits on the day. Bats Blistered As Frontier Defeats Rend Lake, 9-6 In First Game Of The Series.
The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where came out on top against Rend Lake CC, 9-6. Frontier opened up scoring in the second inning. The Bobcats scored one run when Caleb Evans (Linsolnshire, IL.) doubled. Frontier pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning by Caleb Evans's sac fly. Frontier notched an additional six runs in the fifth inning. Batters contributing to the big inning included Braxton Gerek (League City, TX.), Matthew Espinosa (Fort Worth, TX.), and Starly Hilario (San Juan, PR.), all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Andrew Shoultz (Scurry, TX.) pitched the Bobcats to victory. He surrendered three runs on three hits over seven innings, striking out three. Gamaliel Echevarria (Camuy, PR.) and Ty Ramey (Princeton, KY.) entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Ty Ramey recorded the last two outs to earn the save for Frontier.
Frontier scattered 15 hits in the game. Braxton Gerek, Starly Hilario, Trey Woosley (Breckinridge, KY.), Ren Reynolds (Kilgore, TX.), Caleb Evans, and Bradley Taylor (Russellville, KY.) each racked up multiple hits for Frontier. Braxton Gerek went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Bobcats in hits.
