BASEBALL SETS RECORD FOR TEAM WINS, EARNING POST-SEASON BIRTH

Frontier Baseball Sets School Record in Wins, Earning a Post-Season Birth

Yesterday concluded the regular season for Bobcats baseball, they set numerous records including setting the single-season win total record. Starting on Friday the Bobcats will also compete in their first post-season game in program history.

The season has yet to conclude but the Bobcats have already set records in Team Wins. Along with that, Frontier offense broke records in runs scored, home runs by a team, doubles, runs batted in, triples, and stolen bases. These offensive records were a team effort, with Bradley Taylor (Russellville, KY.) .370 batting average and 42 runs batted in, Braxton Gerek (League City, TX.) .321 batting average 5 homeruns and 27 stolen bases, Cole Rasburry (Bellville, TX.) with his .362 average and 3 to 1 walk to strike out rate, and Jacob White (Lewisport, KY.) having a.413 on base percentage while slugging .419 all contributed to the team having success.

On the mound the Bobcats continued to shine in the record books as well, setting team records in team strike outs, individual wins for a season, and saves. The pitching staff was a huge part of the success the Bobcats found on the field highlighted by key contributors. Andrew Shoultz (Scurry, TX.) was a work horse for the Bobcats throwing 69.1 innings with a four earn run average striking out 89 batters while only allowing 31 walks, posting a 1.37 WHIP (Walks plus Hits per Inning). Jestin Jones (Fort Meyers, FL.) had a brilliant season as well, throwing 51 innings posting 68 Strike outs and allowing 27 walks leading the pitching staff with a 12 K/9 (strike outs per 9 innings).  Mac Grant (Tampa, FL.) lead the team with his strikeout to walk ratio of 3.5 K’s per walk. Alex Kerr (West Chester, OH.) unfortunately had his season shorten due to injury, lead the team in earn run average posting a 3.8.

Although the season is far from over, we would like to thank the contributions of each sophomore, and all of the Bobcat teammates that helped make this season turn into what it became. The Future is bright for the Bobcats Baseball Club with a core of freshman gaining experience, and another strong recruiting class led with a lot of talent and character, Coach Brandon Benton and his staff are excited on where this program is going.
